Introducing Glenn McGrath AO, Apollo Investment's Brand Ambassador

From bowling perfect lines to championing social causes, Glenn McGrath AO has inspired many and shown the value of making a difference in the lives of others. That’s why we’re proud to welcome him as Apollo Investment’s Brand Ambassador.

A True Australian Legend

Glenn had an impressive career as an athlete. He claimed 563 Test wickets and 381 One Day International wickets, making him one of the most successful fast bowlers in cricket history. Glenn’s unerring accuracy, ability to perform under pressure and knack for dismissing top-order batsmen earned him the nickname “Pigeon.” From then on, he became one of the most respected athletes in Australia. He became a key player in Australia’s three consecutive World Cup victories. He was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2011 and the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013.

While Glenn’s on-field achievements are legendary, it’s his off-field endeavours over the past years that have truly showcased his character and compassion.

Passion Beyond the Pitch

In 2002, Glenn and his late wife Jane founded the McGrath Foundation, a breast cancer support and education charity in Australia. The foundation’s inception was deeply personal, inspired by Jane’s battle with breast cancer. Following Jane’s passing in 2008, Glenn took on the role of chairman, dedicating himself to fulfilling the foundation’s vision of ensuring every family experiencing breast cancer has free access to a skilled nurse who can offer clinical care and psychosocial support.

Under Glenn’s leadership, the McGrath Foundation has made remarkable strides. It has placed hundreds of McGrath Breast Care Nurses across the country and supported more than 143,000 Australian families affected by breast cancer. The foundation has also established the iconic “Pink Test” at the Sydney Cricket Ground, turning the third day of the first Test of the year into Jane McGrath Day to raise funds and awareness.

In 2008, Glenn was named the New South Wales Australian of the Year and appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to cricket and the health community through the McGrath Foundation. He was then promoted to Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours List. His tireless efforts in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer support have touched countless lives across Australia—and he’s ready to do more by partnering with Apollo Investment.
